The Hip Hop Civic Engagement Project is an
organization that grew out of the success of the first ever Hip Hop Political
Convention this past June in Newark, NJ. Over 7,000
activists and organizers from around the country came to Newark to debate,
discuss and ultimately vote on the youth political agenda for the upcoming
Presidential Election and beyond. From their excitement, the Hip Hop Civic
Engagement Project was born and expanded to 13 states. In those 13 states, they
have to date registered over 100,000 new voters in the "hip hop
generation."
